Fresh Vintage

I have to be honest, when I saw this stamp set in the Sale-a-bration catalog, I wasn't too sure about it.  I'm not really the vintagey (if that's a word), rustic stamp kind of girl.  But when I got the Everyday Enchantment DSP from the same catalog I thought I may need to work a little on this.  The paper has such beautiful colors and lends itself to making so many different kinds of cards or scrapbook pages!  Can't wait to give it a try on some digital scrapbooking......whenever there's more time added to the day!  Since there was already so much color in the paper I went for a more muted stamp image.  Still feel like it's missing something but I can't put my finger on it right now.....

Cardstock:  Very vanila, pool party, calypso coral, & Everyday Enchantment DSP

Stamp set:  Fresh Vintage, Delightful Dozen

Accessories:   Everyday enchantment ribbon & brad pack, sponge

There's just a little over a month left for the Sale-a-bration promotion.  I have just a few spots available if you'd like to host a workshop and take advantage of the great benefits you can earn!  Don't have time in your schedule?  You can always collect orders for an outside party and earn some awesome rewards!  Let me know, karlita@tctwest.net , the clock is ticking!

Gift card holder tutorial

**February, 23rd..sorry gang, didn't realize this didn't post when it was suppose to....still working on this blog thing :)

Of the different cards I've taught the club girls, this one has been the most popular and repeated.  It can be used for any occasion where you're giving a gift card....change out the paper and the saying and there ya go!  My daughter's been invited to a birthday party so hence we have a young girls card.

*  Cut a piece of cardstock (CS), mine is soft suede, to 5-1/2" x 7-3/4".  Score at 4-1/4"  and 6-3/4".  Fold along the score lines to form a "Z".

*  Make a scallop trim border on the 1" panel
*  Place a piece of patterned DSP that is 3" x 5-1/4" to the top section (the 4-1/4" wide panel).  There will be an empty gap between the bottom edge of the DSP and the score line.
*  Place sticky strip at the very edge of the middle section (the 2-1/2" panel) on both the right & left edges.  Peel the red backing off and seal your card.

Cut a piece of coordinating CS that is 2-3/8" x 5-1/4" and mount on the outside of the 2-1/2" panel leaving an even border on the bottom, left & right sides.  Cut a coordinating piece of DSP to 2-1/4" x 5-1/8" and mount on the bottom panel over the piece you just cut.
*  Take a 20" piece of ribbon and run under the scalloped edge.  Bring to the front and make a bow.  Secure the bow to your CS with a glue dot.  Run sticky strip on the back side of your scalloped edge.  Peel the red backing off and secure to the 2-1/2" panel.
Using the top note die cut out a whisper white piece of CS & another piece of coordinating CS. Trim around the whisper white CS leaving an 1/8" border so you can mount to your coordinating CS.  Stamp your sentiment in the upper right hand corner.  Attach your gift card with mini glue dots and insert into your pocket card.  Voila!

*  To create a coordinating envelope attach DSP to the lip of your envelope with Tombow glue.  Trim around the border of your envelope.  (**HINT** make sure your DSP isn't upside down before you attach to your envelope)

Cardstock: Soft suede, calypso coral, whisper white, and Sweet Shop DSP

Stamp Set:  Teeny Tiny words

Accessories:  Scallop trim border punch, calypso coral 3/8" ruffled ribbon, Big Shot!, Top note die, Sweet shop designer stickers, sticky strip and glue dots

I'm still in the Valentine mode since mine didn't get out in the mail in time to arrive on Valentine's Day.  Tomorrow I'll show you what went in the mail.  Tonight I'll bring you my son's Valentine card.  He saw the card I had in my craft room with the M&M's and loved it and was quite upset when his didn't have any ;-(  A typical three-year-old reaction!

Other Stampin' Up! news!  Stampin' Up! announced at the Demonstrator Leadership Conference last month that starting this year, they have eliminated the Summer Mini Catalog.  The future Holiday and Spring Minis will be bigger and last longer (5 months vs. 4 months).  The annual catalog (new In Colors, stamps, designer series paper, new accessories) will start a month earlier (June 1, 2012) and the Holiday Mini will start a month earlier as well (August 1, 2012).  So this means THE CURRENT IDEA BOOK AND CATALOG WILL EXPIRE ON MAY 31, 2012 NOT JUNE 30, 2012 In addition, the Simply Adorned and Décor Elements lines will be discontinued when the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog retires.

Sweet cake

You know the saying "Time flies when you're having fun!".  I can't believe its the middle of February and tomorrow is my reveal day on our team website, http://www.inkingeverythingwithbecky.com/.  It just seems like the other day Becky was asking me if I was interested in this new business venture (adventure).

The new year was a fresh start for me and I made a lot of changes.  One was cutting back a day from work so that I could work more on my Stampin' Up! business. I have been so happy since I did that.  I love working in my craft room "playing" with my toys!  Life is short so you should enjoy what you do....

Everyone has been talking about Stampin' Up Sale-a-bration that's going on.  You should know it is not just about getting free merchandise with purchases.   It's also an opportunity for you to join Stampin' Up at a reduced price of $125!  They've also made it more enticing by offering you a free digital download for My Digital Scrapbooking or a free DSP pack every month for the remainder of the year.  Now, you may not want to join for the extra money you'll have in your pocket.  I simply wanted to get the things I already loved cheaper!  If that's what you're interested in, take a chance....what do you have to lose?  If you have questions, click on the following link and review the information.

Tonight's adorable card is going to be my daughter's Valentine.  Didn't realize it until I was done, but it's perfect for her since she loves cupcakes and the colors are fun too!

Cardstock:  Pool party, whisper white, & sweet shop specialty DSP

Stamp set:  Sweet cake

Accessories:  Jelly bean brads, pool party 3/8" ruffled ribbon, perfect polka dots embossing folder, Big Shot!, and dazzling details

I have posted some new classes on my Stampin' Up website, so check it out and get signed up before class spaces fill up!  Keep checking back for more updates as I have more classes in mind.  Any questions, just drop me an e-mail, karlita@tctwest.net   I'd love to hear from you!

How did we do it!

How did the papercrafting world function before the Big Shot! and the Simply Scored Scoring Tool?!!  Honestly, they are the best tools to have in the craft room.  They've made my project tonight so fast and simple.  Put my handy dandy little markers on my scoring tool and before ya know it, I've got 8 identical pieces of paper scored.  KAAACHIGA!!  (Think I've been watching too much of the Cars movie lately!  It's my son's newest obsession! )  Anyway, these cute little treats go to my girls when I make their deliveries on Friday.  Hope they like them!!

This cute idea I CASED from my dear upline, Becky Roberts!  To see what she gave us last year at convention, click here!

Just right to hold some Valentine treats!

Cardstock:  Concord crush, whisper white, and daffodil delight

Stamp set:  Teeny tiny wishes

Accessories:  Big Shot!, Adorning accents textured impressions embossing folders, concord crush 1/2" stitched-poly ribbon, 1-3/4" scallop circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, bird builder punch, boho blossoms punch, itty bitty shapes punch pack, basic pearls

If you'd love some Stampin' Up! goodies for Valentines Day drop your significant other a "hint" that I can deliver a gift certificate with a cute card just to make your day perfect.  Just have him send me an email, karlita@tctwest.net.  Would love to hear from you!

Mixed Bunch

Just got back from a fun evening at stamp club.  Those girls are so much fun!  Always good for a few laughs....and we had a new member join us, so welcome aboard, Tammie!  Hope we didn't scare ya off yet :)  Tonight's post is the third card the girls created for class tonight.  Wanted to keep this one simple since the other card was quite time consuming.

This is such an easy layout and can easily be changed to accommodate whatever colors you prefer.

Cardstock:  Wisteria wonder, basic black, very vanilla, and First Edition Specialty DSP

Stamp sets:  Mixed Bunch, Sincere Salutations

Accessories:  Blossom punch, 3/4" circle punch, Tasteful trim Bigz XL die, and the Big Shot!

If you'd like to join stamp club, I am accepting new members for a club that will be meeting at my house just south of Laurel.  We meet once a month and create 3 projects.  You place your minimum $20 order and one of those months you'll earn the hostess benefits for that class.  If you have any questions about club or are interested drop me an e-mail:  karlita@tctwest.net.  I'd love to hear from you!  Thanks again!  Kari

Challenging card!

Have you ever known the kind of card you wanted to make but it doesn't work the way you want it too?  When it comes to creating things for my club girls I have so many things I want to show them.  But we have limited time and you have to consider the holiday we're concentrating on and what promotions are going on too.  So I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone when I thought up this card.  WOW!  This tasked my brain today!  If I centered the treat cup then I couldn't reach the punch to the middle of the card to make the circle where you'd get the M&M's out.  So I moved it higher and then ran into the problem with attaching the back easel part.  It didn't cover the hole that I had punched on the front......and I didn't have a way of stopping my pull tab from going too far because there was no paper to mount too.......anyway, after much tearing apart and re-attaching I finally came up with the below product.

Directions for creating an easel card or many other creative folds can be found on Splitcoast Stampers here...

Cardstock:  Riding hood red, basic black, very vanilla, First Edition Specialty DSP

Stamp Set:  Teeny tiny wishes, Sweet centers, I {Heart} Hearts

Accessories:  Black embossing powder, Heat tool, Embossing buddy, basic black, 1-1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon, basic black 5/8" satin ribbon, word window punch, modern label punch, 1-3/4" circle punch, scallop trim border punch, fashionable hearts embosslits die, Big Shot!, and sticky strip!

Have a great week everyone and make sure you get some time in for yourself to stamp a little!  XOXO  Kari

Valentine treats

I love making treats for my daughter's class for holidays.  But this year she wanted to get the boring box treats/cards that you assemble.  Before buying them, I asked if she was sure she wanted to do that, telling her I had lots of cute ideas for the kids.  She said, "No Mom, just make my teacher something."  We got home and I showed her one of the things I had planned and she said, "awwwwww".  Hmmmm, told ya so!  Mother always knows best!  So instead, I will show my club girls how to make these cute and fast treats.  They've been seen across the web on several different blogs but I changed it up a bit with the colors I like.  Hope you enjoy!

Your base piece of cardstock is 2 1/4" x 6 1/2" and then score at 2 1/2" & 4"

I punched a 1/2 circle at the top for a hole for the stick

Cardstock:  Pear pizzazz, baja breeze, whisper white, & Twitterpated DSP

Stamp Set:  PS I Love You

Accessories:  1-3/4" scallop circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, 1" circle punch, 1/2" circle punch, stampin dimensionals, pear pizzazz 1/2" stitched-poly ribbon, sticky strip

If you haven't checked out the Sell-A-Bration catalog yet, click on the icon at the top of this page.  Or if you like to receive a copy by mail drop me an e-mail, karlita@tctwest.net and I can get one sent to you.   I'd love to hear from you!
