Harvest Blessings

A few weeks ago my dad turned 60.  So I couldn't help but resist and use the Harvest Blessings stamp set for his card since it had an antique tractor and he's a farmer.  On the inside I printed off a saying on my computer:  "60th birthdays and antique tractors seem to have a lot in common.....just sayin'....."  He took it in good spirits :)

Cardstock:  Comfort Cafe DSP, Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla, Watercolor paper

Stamp set:  Harvest Blessings, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Accessories:  Aqua painter, Naturals Designer buttons, Postage label punch, 1-3/8" square punch, Word window punch, crumb cake 1/2" seam binding ribbon, Stazon ink

Hope everyone has a fun and safe 4th of July. And if you're traveling, be careful!  Until next time, happy stamping!  Kari

Lovely as a Tree

Even though the sentiment on this card states its for fathers day, it can easily be changed for a birthday, anniversary, or a sympathy card.  This is one of my first sets so I hope this stamp set is never retired.  It is just a good basic set to have.  I used the "thumping" method for coloring the tree.  Using the fat end of the Stampin' Write markers I hold the marker like a drumstick.  Start with the lightest color you want to use and thump across your stamp.  Once you've applied a good amount of color switch to your next darkest color and repeat the process until you've applied about three different colors and have covered your stamp.  It gives the best coloring effect for fall trees.  The three colors I used were more mustard, old olive, and cajun craze.

Cardstock:  Early Espresso, More Mustard, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, and First Edition specialty DSP

Stamp set: Lovely as Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Accessories:  word window punch, modern label punch, 3/16" metal brads, Big Shot!, stripes embossing folder, labels collections framelits

On another note, I have quite a bit of retired inventory that I will be listing over the next week whether it is stamp sets, DSP, or accessories. If there's something that you've been looking for send me an e-mail and I'll let you know a price.  karlita@tctwest.net  Have a great week!

A lot has happened!!

Time sure does fly!!  I can't believe it's been so long since my last post.  The best thing that's happened since last time is that I have my first recruit!!!  So please help me welcome, Charlotte Hondl from Dickinson, ND to my team!  I've known this sweet lady all my life and she is ecstatic to be become a part of Stampin' Up!  She took advantage of the new $99 starter kit and completely customized it to fill her needs. She also earned the entire Patio Party suite for free, available only this month.  What are you waiting for?  Take the jump and join me in the most exciting creative company out there.  Click here to join my team!

So last week I spent days preparing decorations for the surprise party I threw for my parents 40th anniversary and my dad's 60th birthday.  My mom was partly in on the surprise because she thought it was only for my dad's birthday!  Well, I pulled one over on her too!  It was great to see friends and family for a happy occasion.

So the first picture here is the invitation I sent out that was created partly with MDS. Gotta love the versatility of MDS!

Now we have the decorations....wasn't what I had originally planned but had to make some last minute changes.  You may recognize the similarity from the catalog.  Check out page 194.  I made 11 totally different ones for the tables.  Here's a bit of advice.  When using hot glue do not mix with any other types of adhesives such as gorilla glue.  Ends up with a volcanic reaction and quite a mess!  My dear aunt Georgia was kind enough to help me assemble these the morning of the party.  I added the wheat for a little country flair as my parents are farmers.

And last I am proud to say I was able to get a five generation picture.  My dear great-grandma is 97 years old this year.

Thanks for stopping by! Kari
