Teacher year end gift!

I am just so tickled pink for my daugher to give her teacher her gift tomorrow as its the last day of school here.  I wish I had more time to make some for other teachers but as my time goes, there's not enough of it during the day.  Have I mentioned how much I love using the MDS program.......I created this project this evening in about 2 hours!  Talk about handy and very personal.  I really wanted to make my own matching envelopes and then use my diagonal tool on my Simply Scored Scoring Tool but I was afraid my husband would have a coronary printing all those up and "wasting" ink.

My first step was to create the card in a 2-3/4" x 5-1/2" format.  This way I could copy and paste the same card on an 8-1/2" x 11" piece of cardstock and print off six cards on one sheet.  That is if your printer would allow you to print without any borders.....mine does not allow that, so I had to improvise.  I do believe I will be in the market for a new printer...possibly wireless too :)

Then on the back I added an extra little sentiment....

Since I wasn't able to make the cute matching envelopes I substituted and made a coordinating label that I attached to the 3x3 envelopes.  She can then write the students name on the label.

Then I made a standard box and decorated with some teacher appropriate DSP and voila!

Tomorrow is the first day of the new catalog, can you believe it?!  I am so wanting to purchase some new stamps I can't stand it!  So don't forget it's available tomorrow starting at 12:00 noon MST.  Until next time, happy stamping!

More MDS projects

Today's post is the second half of the desk calendar that I made for my parents.  I had so much fun looking through these last night that I had to buy more downloads to play with.  It's so fun and easy and convenient to use on your cards.  You don't have to wait for a stamp set to arrive from the UPS man (or woman).  Just download it on your computer and in minutes its ready to use.  Can you tell I'm in love with MDS?!!  I plan on making some end of the year teacher gifts over the next few days.  So keep an eye out for those later this week.

First MDS project

As I promised I can finally show you my very first MDS project.  My mom and dad had received a desk calendar last year for Christmas and fell in love with it.  This year time was not on my side so it did not get finshed for Christmas.  I started this project and felt overwhelmed as I knew very little and so I procrastinated.  Then I came across this online MDS class being offered by fellow demonstrator, Heather Summers.  As I learned more I got more pages finished and changed pages already done as I learned more tricks.  I was a hard convert from tradition scrapbooking.  I like to be able to feel texture and see dimension.  But the convenience in working with this program is so attractive.  I took my computer with me to my daughter's softball practice and worked away.  There's no mess to clean up...the list goes on and on.  Today's post will include the first part of the calendar and then tomorrow will be the remaining pages.  Hope this will provide you a little inspiration to give MDS a try.  And you can also see my inspiration for what I do and why... I love my kids!!

If you like what you see, send me an e-mail.  I'm looking to get an MDS class started in my area.  I'd love to pass along some tips and tricks I've learned.  karlita@tctwest.net

Thank you post-its

This little project was one of the final ones for the stamp club girls for the year.  We take a break over the summer and start back up again in September.  This is a real simple project to duplicate if you need to make multiples for teachers or whatever situation arises.  It includes another one of my favorite stamp sets that's retiring (insert sad face).  Inside holds a standard size of post-it notes that were attached with sticky strip and also holds a Stampin' Up! pen from convention last year :)  I loved these "in colors" and will be so sad to see them go.

My first hybrid project!!

Now you say, "what's a hybrid project?"  It's a combination of traditional card making and digital crafting.  I needed a graduation card as our sweet baby-sitter is graduating from high school today.  I didn't have any current graduation stamps so decided to dig into My Digital Studio (MDS) program and combine the best of two worlds.  I love the medallion stamp and since its retiring I decided to incorporate it too!

I've learned some handy tricks taking an on-line class that's being offered by an awesome Canadian demonstrator, Heather Summers. You can check out her blog here.  The digital stamp set I used was Great Grads.  I manipulated the image so that the circle "G" became part of the word grad.  Then I added a red circle behind the image.  I copied several of the same images on an 8-1/2 x 11 page (needed enough for my stamp club girls) and then printed them on my home computer.  I absolutely love the final product!  Will definitely being doing more of this again!!

Printed off a saying for the inside

Cardstock:  Basic black, Whisper white, Red glimmer paper, Silver glimmer paper

Stamp set:  Teeny Tiny Wishes, Medallion

Accessories:  Silver embossing powder, Heat tool, Brights & basics glimmer brads,  1-3/4" scallop circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, word window punch

If you enjoy what you've seen on this project, stay tuned for some upcoming classes that will offer you the basics and some special tricks to using MDS (My Digital Studio).  In the next few days I also get to show you the project that I've been working on. My parents finally received it in the mail :)

Sorry for my absence!

The last 2 weeks have been a whirlwind for my family.  My mother-in-law unexpectedly passed away in North Dakota.  My husband is an only child, as I am too, so he has a lot weighing on his shoulders.  My daughter has experienced a family death but my son is just too young to understand where Grandma has gone.  I could've stayed in North Dakota much longer but my daughter had already missed so much school and the kids needed to get back to the normal life routine.

I was working on her mother's day card when we got the news.  Even though she didn't get to see it, it will be with her for eternity.

Cardstock:  Concord crush, Pear pizzazz, Bashful blue, Cheerful Treat DSP (hostess paper)

Stamp set:  Delightful Dozen, Flight of the Butterfly

Accessories:  2-1/2" circle punch, 2-3/8" scallop circle punch, butterfly punch, basic rhinestones, 1/2" concord crush stitched-poly ribbon

Remember there's just a little over a week left to grab any of the retired stamps and accessories before they're gone forever.

Make your list and head over to my website and place your order, available 24 hours a days :)

New MDS Downloads

Every week my favorite day is Tuesday anticipating what new exciting downloads Stampin' Up! is going to have to offer.  I have been having so much fun on my current project!!  It is just about finished and I'll be able to have it sent off to be printed.  It's so convenient too!  I took my laptop to my daughter's softball practice and worked in the car for an hour and a half.  Not like I would've been able to do that with the traditional scrapbooking.  I must admit I am the newest convert :)  I'm having such a hard time delegating what money to spend/save for the new catalog and money I want to spend on new downloads!  Then there's convention just around the near corner....such dilemas!!!  Anyway, this week is no different, in that Stampin' Up! has given us some awesome new downloads to play with.
